My name is Sierra, and I guess you could say that I'm a miracle puppy.
You see, my life was saved TWICE. My mother was a stray, and had no one to take
care of her. She was taken to the Columbus Humane Shelter, where we were born
(read
that story here). But we weren't born
the regular way. You see, my Mom had to have an emergency C-section to save us,
and her. On September 11th, I was delivered by a wonderful veterinarian by
emergency C-section.
Three days after my traumatic experience, I was relocated to my foster mom and
dad's house with my Mother and six other sisters and brother. We all grew up
very fast and healthy. Well, for the most part we were healthy.
When I was seven weeks old, I started not feeling well. My foster mom noticed me
vomiting one Sunday night. The next Monday she got me into the vet as fast as
possible. I actually had to visit two vets that day. They told me I didn't have
Parvo, which was good, but they didn't know WHAT it was. So my foster Mom took
me home and gave me medicine and fluids every two hours that night. She was
really excited because it looked like I was getting better the next day, but
something was still wrong. I started getting worse again later in the week. By
Friday, my Foster mom wasn't sure if I was going to live much longer. She rushed
me into the nice doctors at Mississippi State Vet Hospital. I was a little
scared as they took radiographs and ultrasounds. They found out that I had an
intussusption, which was a problem with my intestine. It would require immediate
surgery. The doctors were worried I might not even make it through surgery
because I was so sick. After one intense surgery, and two days of intensive
care, I amazed everyone and was discharged to go back to my foster home.
But even better news, though my ordeal, I found a home!! My new mommy is the vet
student who performed the surgery on me. I am so excited that I have gotten not
just a second chance, but a third. I am such a cute and wonderful puppy, I am
truly grateful for all those people who continued to believe in me!
Thanks Meg, Dr. Bushby, Larisha, and Dr. Russak! The only thing I have left to
ask is that you consider adopting my brother and sisters. They're just as
wonderful and loving as me, and want to find homes as good as the one I now
have!
