A ton of Puppies

Jamie Calaway is one of my wonderful foster moms. She called me a couple months ago and asked if she could help us by fostering a dog. At the time I had a pregnant mom that was due any day. Jamie volunteered to take her and keep her until the pups were 6 wks old. This is a big responsibility, especially for first time foster moms. She happily took Angela into her home and gave her lots of attention. Angela is a small mix dog about 25-30 lbs. Angela is very sweet and fit right in at the Calaway’s home. Jamie’s husband Patrick and her children Jessie age 10, Jacob age 8, Jax age 5, Jade age 3, and Josie 2 wks old were all very important in the fostering of Angela and her 7 pups. Jamie decided at Christmas to take Angela with her on a family trip to Florida for the holidays. We did not know exactly when Angela was due, but it could be any day. Well they all made it to Florida and a couple days before Christmas Angela decided it was time to give everyone her Christmas gifts. She had 7 beautiful puppies. Jamie, Patrick, Jessie, Jacob, Jax, Jade, and Jamie’s parents were able to witness and help in the miracle of life. After they all returned home to Alabama, the Calaway’s continued to nurture and help raise these pups until they could be returned to us for adoption. About 2 wks after Angela had her pups, I had another mama dog who had 8 pups. This mama dog was in an accident and did not make it, so Angela took on two other pups from another litter and raised them as if they were her own. So now, not only did Jamie and her family have Angela and her 7 pups, but an additional 2 pups. Now that’s a house full for anyone. The Calaway’s fostered all these pups in their house for 6 wks. Now if that is not a dedicated foster mom, then I don’t know what it is. I would just like to say Thank you so much for all you did in helping save the lives of 9 pups and a mama dog. Without special people like the Calaway’s our foster program here at Columbus Lowndes Humane Society would not exist. We are currently looking for homes for Angela and all her pups. If you could find a place in your home for a well adjusted pup, who already knows what it is like to be loved, please contact us. If you are interested in a very loving dedicated adult dog, Angela is the one for you. She is even house and kennel trained. Again, Thank you Jamie, Patrick, Jessie, Jacob, Jax, Jade, and baby Josie for all you did to help us with Angela and her pups.
